Mamaroneck Opens Cooling And Charging Centers

Con Edison reported 4,445 homes and businesses out in Mamaroneck village; 3,658 in Mamaroneck town; and 1,494 in Larchmont as of 2:45 p.m.

MAMARONECK, NY — Mamaroneck town officials are creating cooling and charging locations for residents without power.

As of 2:45 p.m., Con Edison reported 4,445 homes and businesses out in Mamaroneck village; 3,658 in Mamaroneck town; and 1,494 in Larchmont.

The community room at the Hommocks Ice Rink will be open as a cooling center starting Thursday. Residents are also welcome to bring their devices to utilize electrical outlets. Enter the ice rink on the south side of the building facing Flint Park because the main entrance is not available.

Also, the Town Center at 740 West Boston Post Road will be open between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday as a charging station for cell phones and computers. The receptionist at the Town Center entrance will direct you to the charging station area.

Remember pandemic protocols: Face masks are required and social distancing must be maintained.

FYI, Con Edison personnel will provide ice Wednesday to customers who lost service due to Storm Isaias. The company will also have a mobile information center with workers available to answer questions until 7 p.m. Downcounty, the ice distribution is at the Cross County Shopping Center at 8000 Mall Walk in Yonkers.
