Mamaroneck PD Warns Of Fake Water Works Employees

Residents should ask to see a photo ID, officials said.

MAMARONECK, NY — The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department said there was a report of people posing as Westchester Joint Water Works employees.

Police said the people gained access to a residence by saying they needed to check the water.

Residents are being warned that, if they doubt the identity of a person claiming to be a Water Works employee, do not let them in.

Ask them to provide a WJWW photo ID; all legitimate employees are required to show it.

Police said potential scammers may also pose as Con Edison employees. In addition to not letting them in, ask for photo ID and call Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED (26633), ext. 2, of the police.
