MAMARONECK, NY — The principal of the Mamaroneck Avenue School said he expects to be leaving the district for a new job.

In an email to the community, Superintendent Robert I. Shaps said Mamaroneck Avenue Principal Dr. Neill Alleva said he anticipates being appointed assistant superintendent for human resources and instruction in the Katonah-Lewisboro School District.

"I want to thank Dr. Alleva for his outstanding leadership over the past few years and his incredible dedication to the MAS community," Shaps said.

Shaps said, in the coming day, he will share with the community the process through which a new principal will be appointed.

"We are committed to working with stakeholders to engage in a regional search process and ensure the smoothest transition possible," he said.

A spokeswoman for the Katonah-Lewisboro School District told Patch that Alleva's appointment will be recommended to the board of education at its Thursday meeting.
