MAMARONECK, NY — Mamaroneck Schools will vote by mail on June 9 to approve the district's proposed 2020-2021 school budget. A public hearing for the proposed budget will be held May 26 at 6:30 p.m.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has warned that the economic effect of the shutdown imposed to curb the outbreak could mean much less money available for state education aid. The state will be assessing and adjusting its budget several times in the course of 2020. Cuomo's last estimate was that state aid would be 20 percent lower than already promised.
But, Mamaroneck's budget grew by 1.96 percent, or $2.7 million, from the 2019-2020 school year.
