MAMARONECK, NY — Cynthia Arce, the Mamaroneck woman who pleaded guilty to killing her daughter, was sentenced Thursday to 25 years to life in prison, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's office. Stephen Boyd, the father of Gabriella Boyd, the child who was killed, said the 30-year-old woman did not deserve to be called a mother.

Gabriella was 2 when she died.

Mamaroneck village police went to Arce's Chestnut Avenue home April 28, 2018, after receiving a call that someone was dying.

Gabriella was found on her bed unresponsive.

Arce was in another room with two large knives, and officers said she charged at them, stabbing and injuring them.

When the use of a stun gun did not subdue her, a third officer shot and wounded Arce, which ended the confrontation.

Gabriella was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy ruled her death to be a homicide.

Arce was taken to Westchester County Medical Center where she was treated for the gunshot injuries. She was arrested at the hospital and then sent to the Westchester County Jail where she has been ever since.
