Mamaroneck's Yvonne D. Tropp Wins State-Wide Award

Tropp was honored for her work as an MHA Westchester Board member and CASA volunteer.

Recognizing her fourteen years as a fierce advocate for MHA’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program as well as twelve years as an engaged Board member for MHA, The Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS) named Yvonne D. Tropp 2014’s Volunteer of the Year. The award was conferred at the MHANYS 2014 Awards Dinner & Conference in Albany on November 18, 2014.

Since becoming a CASA in 2001, Tropp has served 17 children living in foster care and 13 families. Her cases have taken her all over Westchester County, to the depths of the Bronx, into New Jersey and, more than once, to prison in order to stand by a child during a visit with a parent. Further, she has been extraordinarily effective, winning the hearts and respect of the judges, attorneys, families and providers with whom she works.

As a Board member since 2002, Tropp has been a powerful voice for MHA in the community, connecting friends with MHA’s mission and keeping them informed about news and events.
