Man Shoots Turkey From Van, Pays Fine
Environmental conservation police officers said the incident happened in the town of Mamaroneck in May.

MAMARONECK, NY — A Westchester man was accused of illegally shooting turkey in the town of Mamaroneck. A report from police of a turkey being shot from the roadway in Mamaroneck was received May 7 by state Department of Environmental Conservation police officers.
An environmental conservation police officer photographed the scene and spoke to a witness who was able to describe a van in the area at the time of the shooting and provided a license plate number.
Surveillance video from a homeowner showed the road the turkey dead on the side of the road with a van stopping as a passenger exited the vehicle and picked it up.

The owner of the van was identified as Mark Luceno of Mamaroneck.
Authorities said he gave a written confession describing how he shot the turkey from the side of the road with a compound bow while his wife drove the van.

In late July, Luceno was issued six tickets for illegally taking protected wildlife, taking a turkey during closed hours, use of a motor vehicle to take small game, discharging a bow from across a public highway, discharging a bow within 150 feet of a dwelling and failure to bag a turkey as required by law.
He agreed to civil penalties in court and paid a $500 fine.
