Obituary: Rita Louise Mahrlig, 76, Formerly Of Mamaroneck

Rita Louise Tammany Mahrlig, 76, of Toano, Virginia, passed away on May 1, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born to John and Rita Tammany on September 29, 1942, in Waterbury, CT. After relocating to south Florida with her parents and sister, Joanne in 1946, Rita graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale Florida in 1960.

After graduation, Rita went to work for Southern Bell Telephone and later transferred to Norwalk, Connecticut in 1961. It was then that she met and later married her husband, Edward J. Mahrlig, Jr. in 1963. Rita and her family lived in Mamaroneck, NY for 43 years until she and her husband moved to Virginia in 2006.

Rita is survived by her husband Edward, her three “boys,” Steven, Michael and Edward (Ted) III, and her four grandchildren, Chase, Madison, Zoë and Jake.

Rita was blessed with an infectious laugh and a joyous personality which she shared with everyone she met. The world lost one of its originals. There were none like her.

Viewing ceremony will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home; 767 E. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, NY 10543. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019, at St. Gregory The Great Church; 215 Halstead Avenue, Harrison, NY 10528. Committal will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
