Pelham Community Rowers Win Eight Gold Medals at Overpeck Regional Youth Regatta
The Pelham Community Rowing Association's youth rowers won eight gold medals at the 4th annual Overpeck Regional Youth Regatta.
From the PCRA Parents Association: The Pelham Community Rowing Association's (PCRA) youth rowers won eight gold medals and six second place finishes at the 4th annual Overpeck Regional Youth Regatta held on Overpeck Lake in Leonia, New Jersey.
PCRA captured the most first place finishes among the 27 competing clubs from New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. PCRA gold medal winning boats included the Women's Varsity 2x, Women's Lightweight 2x, Women's JV Lightweight 4x, Women's JV 4x, Men's Frosh 8+, Men's Lightweight 2x, Men's Varsity 2x, and Men's Lightweight 4+.
PCRA bested the field in second place finishes as well with six total, including Women's Varsity 1x, Women's Varsity 2x, Women's JV 2x, Men's JV 4x, Men's JV 8+, and Men's Varsity 4x.

Several races were cancelled due to extreme weather conditions as the winds picked up, including the Women's Varsity 8+, the Women's Varsity 4x, and the Men's and Women's Novice races.
John Brisson, PCRA Rowing Director and Head Youth Coach, was pleased with the team's performance. "The Overpeck Regatta featured a beautiful, sunny day with incredibly gusty winds and extremely choppy waters - difficult conditions for rowers of any skill level. PCRA competitors displayed their rowing skills by managing the conditions better than most and pressed onto victory in a great number of races."

Founded in 2003, Pelham Community Rowing Association (PCRA) is committed to making rowing accessible to everyone. PCRA offers programs for all abilities and levels of experience within an environment of support and encouragement. It draws students from more than 20 Westchester area high schools as well as New York City, who compete at the Novice, JV, and Varsity level.
PCRA rows out of Westchester County's Glen Island Park on the waters of the 1964 Olympic Time Trial Course.
