Princess Delivers For A Young Cancer Survivor Who Founded Charity

Cassidy survived cancer and started a charity to help other children. Today an enchanted princess surprised her with a few cuddly donations.

LARCHMONT, NY — A very special Stop & Shop delivery Thursday morning to a family home in Larchmont provided more than just groceries for one very surprised five-year-old named Cassidy. Although everyone involved in the memorable delivery, including the enchanted princess leading the entourage, were wearing masks, it was still clear that there were plenty of smiling faces all around.

The enchanted princess, photographers and Stop & Shop representatives on hand were there to surprise Cassidy with more than $1,000 in plush toys for a charity she and her family founded to help other cancer patients. The Cuddles for Cassidy charity gives children undergoing cancer treatments stuffed animals to make them feel more comfortable. Cassidy learned firsthand what this simple gesture could mean as a patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Cassidy is also the face of Stop & Shop’s Help Cure Childhood Cancer campaign to raise money for pediatric cancer care. Diagnosed with stage-four rhabdomyosarcoma at an early age, Cassidy is currently in remission - which is reason enough to celebrate with an enchanted princess and a few hundred cuddly friends.

Just to be sure that the brave five-year-old wasn’t too disappointed that groceries wouldn’t be arriving, Stop & Shop employees brought along an assortment of her favorite foods.

Stop & Shop’s Help Cure Childhood Cancer Campaign is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The campaign has raised more than $25 million to date for Memorial Sloan Kettering. Stop & Shop is the cancer center’s largest single corporate donor.
