Solid Performances for Mamaroneck High School Sports Teams over the Weekend

MHS varsity football beat Scarsdale 45-20 in the first round of the Section 1 Class AA football playoffs.

MHS varsity football beat Scarsdale 45-20 in the first round of the Section 1 Class AA football playoffs and will play JJEF (John Jay East Fishkill on Friday October 31st (time 6:30 or 7 pm) in the sectional semifinal game. The quarter-final win was the first win in the playoffs by a Mamaroneck football team from 1993-present era. Marquez Jackson-Allen ran 29 times for 244 yards and three touchdowns. He broke the school single season rushing record of 1,480 previously held by Mo Murray. To this date Marquez Jackson-Allen has run for a season total of 1569 yards.

Boys varsity soccer also won the first round of the Sectional playoffs and advance to play RC Ketcham in the quarter-finals TODAY (Monday) at home at 5 pm!! The Tigers, who dominated possession and played outstanding defense, commenced the 2014 Class AA Section tournament with an impressive 2-0 victory over Suffern. JD Wilson and Nelson Barrios scored for Mamaroneck.

Girls varsity swimming took 3rd at Divisionals with Nicole Parry making her State cut in the 50 freestyle, as well as recutting in the 100 free. 8th grader Kim Jogis made her Sectional 100 breaststroke cut. In all, six girls and three relays will be going to Sectionals onMonday, November 3, and Nicole is going to States in two events!

At the Westchester Cross Country Championships, the Mamaroneck boys team finished in 5th place of 36 teams. Will Young was the top Mamaroneck boys runner, finishing 16th overall with a time of 17.21.9, and Sam Morton finished 23rd with a time of 17.38.0. Lauren Chapey finished as the top Mamaroneck girls runner in 7th place with a time of 19.58.2.
