Visitation, Funeral Set For Mamaroneck Resident Killed In Upstate Car Crash
He was a first-year business agriculture and nursing student at SUNY Cobleskill.

MAMARONECK, NY — Funeral arrangements have been set for the Mamaroneck teen who was killed in a car accident Saturday in upstate New York. Douglass Y. Alvarez is survived by his mother Elvia Velasquez, his sister Diana Velasquez and his brother Hector Barrios.
Alvarez was ejected from a car when it rolled over several times on I-88 in the Town of Maryland, Ostego County. There were five other occupants in the vehicle that left the roadway early Saturday, eventually coming to rest in the opposite lane where it was struck by another car.
Alvarez was a student at SUNY Cobleskill, where he was freshman studying business agriculture and nursing.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E. Boston Post Rd. in Mamaroneck.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vito’s-Most Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 816 Underhill Ave. in Mamaroneck. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery on North Street in Rye.

According to Yuliza Velasquez, who set up the donations page, Eliva Velasquez is a single mother who is struggling to pay for the funeral.
As of Tuesday evening, more that $25,000 has been donated to the GoFundMe account.
