On The Water In The Hudson Valley: Harbor Island Kayak Tours
With the future of the Mamaroneck Paddle Co. in doubt, the village will step in to offer kayak rental programs for both fun and education.

MAMARONECK, NY — After losing an entire summer to coronavirus restrictions, the return of the Mamaroneck Paddle Company to its home in Harbor Island Park is starting to look doubtful.
The popular stand-up paddle board (SUP) programs were once a familiar sight on the calm waters of the Mamaroneck Harbor. The tours and lessons were a particular favorite of groups of school-age kids who could often be spotted laughing and learning rowing techniques just off shore, but the beloved business seems likely to be another economic casualty of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Fortunately, the Village of Mamaroneck Recreation Department has stepped in to get park visitors back on the water again. Fans of the Mamaroneck Paddle Company’s summer programs will be happy to see some familiar themes, including all ages tours and lessons.

The planned tours, which will kick off the season in May, have been so well received that additional events have already been added. Naturalist tours with The Marine Education Center (MEC) on Harbor Island’s Kyle Troy will take place over two weekends. Four new sunset tours have also been scheduled.
