What’s on Tap for the Weekend? Here’s What!
Check out these weekend events in the Larchmont-Mamroneck area!

It's August and you need something cool to do that will offset the heat. Here are some local events for the upcoming weekend. Have fun!
- Intertribal Pow-Wow in Putnam. The 16th annual Daniel Nimham Intertribal Pow Wow is Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park on Gipsy Trail Rd., off Route 301 in Carmel. The event includes performances by the Nimham Mountain Singers, Red Storm Drum & Dance Troupe, Pretty Elk Singers and Northern Light as well as drumming, dancing, birds of prey shows, arts and crafts vendors, and food vendors. Admission is a $1 contribution to the veterans’ charity Honor Our Military Heroes.
- RC Air Show in Haverstraw. The Seventh Annual Haverstraw Air Show will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Radio Control Club will show off their planes and helicopters and give folks a chance to fly a radio controlled plane. The vent is at the Haverstraw Model Aerodome at 585 Beach Road in Haverstraw. For more information, click here.
- Salsa & Sangria Cruise. The Evening Star, a former Coast Guard boat converted to a 30-passenger tour boat, is holding a two-hour Salsa and Sangria tour of the Hudson on Saturday. The boat, under command of Capt. Mary Pat Driscoll, leaves Riverfront Green Park in Peekskill at 6 p.m. Tickets are $22. For more information, go here or call 914-589-7773.
- Art Exhibit at the Hart Library. Kalphna Patel, a local artist and scientist, is exhibiting works in mixed media at the John C. Hart Library in Shrub Oak. The exhibit, “Paintings of Life – My experiments in Color,” runs through Aug. 31. The library is at 1130 E. Main Street. More information is here.
- Cultural Comedy in Port Washington. Peter J. Fogel will perform in Steve Solomon’s comedy “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish, and I’m in Therapy” on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Landmark on Main Street, 232 Main Street. Tickets start at $40. For more information, click here.
- Jewish Festival at Kensico Dam Plaza. Celebrate Jewish culture with live entertainment, music and dance, arts and crafts, history and culture, and food vendors. The festival will be held rain or shine. Seating is informal; bring blankets or folding chairs for seating on the lawn. Sponsored by Westchester County Parks. Kensico Dam Plaza is in Valhalla. - Tour the Gardens. You can take a special tour of the Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers at 11 a.m. Sunday. Learn the interesting history of the estate and its restoration. Visit the Persian Garden, see views of the Hudson River, and cool off near the Temple of Love with its waterfalls. The tour is 90 minutes. This week's tour is the President's tour, which costs $20, with kids 12 and under free. No reservations required. Meet behind the Community Center and wear sturdy closed toe shoes.
