Wildlife: Up Close and Personal Photography by Karen Ann Sullivan

Renowned photographer, Karen Ann Sullivan, opens her latest solo exhibit titled WILDLIFE: UP CLOSE & PERSONAL at the Larchmont Library

Renowned photographer, Karen Ann Sullivan, opens her latest solo exhibit titled WILDLIFE: UP CLOSE & PERSONAL, in the Oresman Gallery at the Larchmont Public Library on October 2. The exhibit will continue to be on view through October 30.

Karen has been drawn to nature for as long as she can recall. Using photography as her tool to document a wide variety of wildlife, the photographer presents the viewer with a glimpse into the unique and amazing lives of these creatures. The photography of birds around the world has been a specific concentration within Karen’s wildlife work. In addition to her passion for the animal kingdom, Karen is also drawn to patterns and abstract beauty found in natural environments.

By conveying a combination of imagery and specific information about the subjects of her work, Karen strives to increase the viewer’s appreciation for the innate beauty, strength, and wonder that exists in the natural world.

Karen’s inspiration is to communicate the excitement and passion she feels for the subjects of her work and the art of photography with others. Some of the photographer’s workshop and presentation topics include; Beginning Nature Photography, Bird Photography, Birds from Around the World, and country or region specific presentations on locations such as Australia, Patagonia & Easter Island, and Alaska’s Katmai Peninsula, to name a few.

“Since my childhood I have had an affinity for animals and natural settings. By bringing my photographs and detailed information about my subjects to the viewer, I hope to increase appreciation for the innate beauty, strength, and wonder that exists in the natural world. This is a constant source of inspiration for me, especially when sharing the excitement of photography with students through presentations and teaching opportunities” said Sullivan. “As an avid traveler, I have embraced the photographic opportunities I have encountered around the world on continents including Africa, South America, and Australia; as well as many locations here in the United States”.

Karen’s images have been exhibited in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts; including participation in a group exhibit at The New York Hall of Science Museum and multiple solo exhibitions at Audubon centers in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
