Police, fire and the Department of Public Works responded to the accident, which occurred shortly after 12 p.m. on Tuesday. Emergency crews at the scene had requested a vacuum truck to help extract the worker from the cave-in. Mamaroneck police escorted the specialized equipment to the scene in an effort to free the trapped worker as quickly as possible.
