3 Lindenhurst Schools Closed Tuesday Due To Coronavirus Cases
Albany Avenue Elementary School, William Rall Elementary School and Lindenhurst Middle School will all operate remotely on Tuesday.
LINDENHURST, NY — Three Lindenhurst schools an will operate remotely on Tuesday due to coronavirus cases, the school district announced on Monday.
In a letter to the community, Superintendent Daniel Giordano stated that a student at Albany Avenue Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. The student began exhibiting symptoms on Monday and will not be allowed to return for at least 10 days and until the Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS) releases them from isolation.
"Unfortunately, because of the late hour, neither the district nor the local health department have enough information to accurately determine the impact of the student’s exposure to the school community," Giordano wrote.

As a result, the district decided to close Albany Avenue school on Tuesday to conduct the contact tracing investigation.
Similarly, the district was informed over the weekend that two students at William Rall Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. Since officials did not have enough time to determine the impact of those students’ exposure to the school community, William Rall will also be closed on Tuesday.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however the safety and well being of our students and staff is our utmost priority," Giordano wrote.
In addition, on Monday the district was informed of a staff member at Lindenhurst Middle School tested positive for coronavirus. The staff member was last in school on Friday and will not be allowed to return for at least 10 days and until the Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS) releases them from isolation.
Because of the late notice in the day, the district and local health department could not determine the impact of the staff member’s exposure to the school community. As a result, Lindenhurst Middle School will also operate remotely on Tuesday.
