Adopt a House Hosting Online Fundraisers for Homes in Need
Adopt a House creates a crowdrise.com account to collect and disperse funds directly to homes in need while residents wait for delayed insurance money and relief funds.

Adopt a House has created a crowdrise.com account to collect and disperse funds directly to houses in need while residents wait for insurance money and relief funds that are held up in an avalanche of red tape.
"We currently have 20 of the 400-plus Registered Houses* set up with individual fundraising pages. And we're working hard to get any house who needs additional help set up with a fundraising page," Adopt a House posted on Lindenhurst Patch earlier this week.
The 501c3 non-profit organization is "hoping to spread the word through via social networks of residents, communities, neighbors, volunteers and donors that this nightmare is far from over for most of those who were affected by the storm" five months after Hurricane Sandy hammered Lindenhurst and the South Shore of Long Island.

Therefore, Adopt a House is urging everyone in the community, whether they're able to donate themselves or not, to please share this information with all of their social networks online.
Donors can read individual stories of residents affected by Sandy, choose a beneficiary and make a tax-deductible donation that'll go directly to that resident by visiting http://www.crowdrise.com/adoptahouseinc.
