No-Swimming Advisory At 61 Suffolk Beaches
This advisory will be lifted Saturday at 10 a.m.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Suffolk County health officials issued an advisory against swimming at 61 beaches following heavy rain Thursday. The closed beaches are influenced by stormwater runoff from the surrounding watersheds or adjacent tributaries, and because of their location, experience limited tidal flushing and could have elevated bacteria levels.
The department recommended that swimming and other water contact be suspended in affected areas..
The advisory will be lifted Saturday at 10 a.m., unless sampling conducted by the department reveals elevated levels of bacteria.

In addition, Bayport Beach and Sayville Marine Park Beach, which closed yesterday due to high bacteria levels, remain closed until further testing reveals that levels have subsided to acceptable levels.
