Annual Steak Fri Raises Money for Scholarships
The Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst's annual Steak Fri will return on Aug. 14 and will raise scholarship money through raffle sales.

On June 3, The Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst awarded $15,000 worth of scholarships to seven graduating seniors, made possible through the fundraising efforts of their 55th Annual Steak Fry held last August.
Founded in 1961, the scholarship program has awarded a total of $413,400 in scholarships to 248 students. The funding comes primarily from raffle tickets sold at the Club’s annual Steak Fry, which will be held on Aug. 14 this year from noon until 8 p.m. at Applebee’s.
“During each of our previous Steak Fry events, the public enjoyed more than 1,200 steaks, several hundred hamburgers and breasts of chicken,” said Kiwanis Club Chairperson Jo Ann Boettcher. “Each comes complete with a delicious ear of fresh corn, Caesar salad, potato salad, rolls and cake.”
