Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck By Box Truck In Copiague
The bicyclist was pinned under the truck after being struck while crossing the road Saturday night, police said.

COPIAGUE, NY — A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a truck in Copiague on Saturday night, according to Suffolk police.
A 67-year-old East Meadow man was driving a 1998 Chevrolet box truck southbound on Great Neck Road when the truck struck a bicyclist who was crossing Great Neck Road at the intersection of Railroad Avenue at 11:45 p.m., police said.
The bicyclist, 43-year-old Jose Torres-Fuentes, of Copiague, was pinned under the carriage of the box truck and had to be extricated by members of the Copiague Fire Department, police said.

Torres-Fuentes was pronounced dead at the scene by physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the truck was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
