Busy Day for Lindy Cares Youth Coalition!
Lindy Cares youth coalition met today to discuss the importance of taking the time to be kind to your fellow students.
Many students who are interested in creating an environment they believe they can thrive in have joined Lindy Cares seeking opportunities to effect change and meet with like-minded students who care about current issues and look for leadership and community service to develop their skills as leaders and role models. Lindy Cares Youth Coalition hold their meetings on Tuesdays at the High School and Middle School. Math teacher, Megan Scharf and social workers Melissa Levy and Ancy Paulose facilitate meetings in this youth led, adult guided model.
Today, the Middle school students and high school students discussed "P.S. I Love You" a grass roots campaign started by a middle school student from Islip who lost her father to suicide. On Friday, February 14, students will wear purple to remind each other that being kind and showing compassion to their fellow students can create a support system of genuine friendship so that no student will ever feel alone.
