Chinese Acrobat Dazzles West Gates Students
Chinese acrobat Li Liu displays her talents to West Gates Elementary School students.
West Gates Elementary School students enjoyed a special performance with Li Liu, a Chinese acrobat.
The performance included hand balancing, plate spinning, trick cycling, foot juggling and ribbon dancing.
Liu shared her travel experiences and talked about Chinese language and culture.
“In China, the color red means good luck,” said Liu. “It pushes the bad things away.”
Students enjoyed listening to her stories, as well as the opportunity to try some of the acrobatic skills such as juggling, plate spinning and ribbon dancing.
Liu was born in China and began her acrobatic training at six years old. She attended the Chinese National Circus School in Beijing and trained eight hours a day until she was 16.
Liu traveled throughout the world with various touring companies, including Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus, and currently is a freelance performer.
Her performance at the school marked the Chinese New Year.
