Community Remembers Lindy Alum, Musician Who Died Of Coronavirus
Artie Webb, a popular local musician and Lindenhurst High School class of 1990 alum, passed away from the virus last week.

LINDENHURST, NY — Local residents are mourning a Lindenhurst alum and popular local musician who died from coronavirus last week.
Artie Webb, who graduated from Lindenhurst High School in 1990, passed away on Tuesday.
Some remember the local resident from his band, Highway 49, where he played bass alongside lead guitar Tim Castoro and drummer Ed "the Hat" D'Alessio. The local band played at several locations for fans across Long Island including East End wineries, the Dockside Café in West Babylon, and Paradise Lounge in West Islip.

However, some remembered Webb as one of the students who were allowed to paint the mural at the high school.
Others knew him as the passionate Jets fan who would often elaborately paint his face during the games.

After the news of his death, several local residents took to social media to post about Webb.
"He was kind, funny, and ridiculously sarcastic," one person wrote on Facebook. "A talented bass player who loved the Jets! Please send prayers to his family and friends. Rest in peace, Artie you will be missed."
Former Lindenhurst Patch editor Barbara Capella Loehr, who wrote several articles on Webb's band, called him a "very talented musician and funny guy."
Another local resident wrote in a Facebook comment that he remembers going to see his band play.
"It was always a fun night out," he wrote. "Certainly gonna miss him. RIP Artie."
A funeral service for Webb was held on Friday morning at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which was live-streamed to the church's Facebook page.
