Daryl Rollins​, Chief Of North Amityville Fire Co., Dies At 42

The chief for 11 years passed away suddenly after responding to a fire Tuesday night.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY - Daryl Rollins, chief of the North Amityville Fire Company, died early Wednesday after suffering from a medical episode. He was 42.

Rollins, who was chief of the department for 11 years, responded to a fire on Tuesday at about 7 p.m. and seemed fine before heading home, Sidney Gellineau, spokesperson for the North Amityville Fire Department told Patch.

He went to bed and was later found unresponsive by his family. He was taking to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where he was declared dead. He appeared to have suffered from cardiac arrest.

Rollins was just completing his first year as head chief.

No funeral services have been announced as of Thursday.
