Elementary English Language Learners Strengthen Skills Through Summer Learning
Students in the Lindenhurst Union Free School District strengthened their English through various educational programs this summer.

Almost 30 English language learners in grades three to five took place in a summer language program offered through the New York State Immigration Grant.
The Lindenhurst Union Free School District students took part in hands-on experiments and activities led by three of the district’s ESL teachers, explored content vocabulary in science, math and social studies and learned about subjects like the ocean, fossils and the Culper spy ring.
The students also took part in Friday field trips to places like the Riverhead Aquarium, Bronx Zoo, Museum of Natural History and Queen’s Hall of Science.
