Free Music Festival Hits Farmingdale Village in September

The inaugural festival will feature 16 performers and will run from Sep. 13 to 14.

A free music festival will be held in Farmingdale Village on the weekend of Sep. 13-14 on Main Street.

Over 16 performers will take the stage, including headliners The Movin’ Out Band, direct from Broadway and featuring several of Billy Joel’s band members, fronted by vocalist Wade Preston. Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals will also perform.

Local artists like Electric Dudes, Dead Ahead, Stanton Anderson Band, Butchers Blind, Soundswell, Funkin A and Kerry Kearney are scheduled to perform throughout the weekend. A KidZone and stage for the younger music lovers, as well as food and arts and craft vendors will also be available.

The inaugural event was brought about by the joined efforts of Jim Faith, who has produced the Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue and the Port Jefferson American Music Festival, and the Farmingdale Downtown Event Planning Committee.

“Thank you to our sponsors, who have made this event possible, including: Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Bartone/TDI, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Lessings Library Café, Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce, Checker Cab, School of Rock, H2M architects & engineers, Phatt Productions, and others signing on daily,” said Mayor Ralph Ekstrand.

The festival will run from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and will be held on Main Street near Hempstead Turnpike and on the Village Green.
