Grand Avenue Light Show Returns For 5th Year
The holiday season is in full swing in Lindenhurst.

LINDENHURST, NY — The holiday season is in full swing in Lindenhurst — or at least it is at Brian and Tara Chiaino's Grand Avenue home.
The couple has been hosting a light show on Grand Avenue for the past five years and this year is no exception. The show was set up on Thanksgiving and will continue until New Year's Eve, attracting hundreds every night. Guests can pay a visit to see the popular show from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on weeknights and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Brian told Patch he started the light show to combine his love of technology, music and entertaining people.

"We love seeing the joy it brings to all the people who watch the show," he said.
Luckily for spectators, the show is bigger than ever, with more lights, props and songs added every year. The first year, Brian started off building around five props and programmed them with five to six songs as a test. After so many people come by, the couple decided to make it bigger for the following year.

"We get an overwhelming amount of positive responses," he told Patch. "Everyone that comes by loves the show and they come back a few times each season. Some visit a few times each week."
While the couple is not letting the coronavirus pandemic stop the show, they have made some changes this year. The duo, who has teamed up with Make-A-Wish Suffolk County to collect donations, has set up Venmo and PayPal QR codes on the lawn to allow guests to make a donation virtually. All proceeds will go to the nonprofit to help grant a child's wish this holiday season
In addition, the Chiainos are asking all visitors to wear a mask and practice social distancing if they leave their car.
"Tara and I want to thank everyone that visits the show," Brian said. "We love seeing the joy this brings to everyone. Also, we want to thank our neighbors for participating and tolerating the additional traffic."
