Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

BREAKING: Some nasty weather is headed our way and it may impact your commute.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Nassau County and western Suffolk County:

Rainfall late Monday night into Tuesday morning could be heavy at times, and could impact the Tuesday morning commute. If the areal flood threat increases, the flood watch already in effect to the north and west could be expanded. Also, a few thunderstorms late day Tuesday could also be strong to locally severe, mainly in and near New York City.

Here's the full forecast:

Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 38. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.

Monday- Increasing clouds, with a high near 60. North wind 5 to 11 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Monday Night- Rain, mainly after midnight. Patchy fog after 4am. Low around 45. Southeast wind 9 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tuesday- Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Areas of fog before noon, then patchy fog after 2pm. High near 56. Breezy, with a southeast wind 19 to 24 mph decreasing to 11 to 16 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Tuesday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 10pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 43. West wind 9 to 13 mph.

Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.

Wednesday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Thursday- Rain. High near 54. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Thursday Night- Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 42. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Friday- A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52.
