Thunderstorms along with wind gusts approaching 40 mph will be possible, according to the latest Long Island forecast.

Rain is coming to Long Island. You remember what rain is, right?
It's been a while since the region saw any significant rainfall, but Tuesday and Wednesday will change all that.
The rain will come in two separate batches, the National Weather Service says. The first round will begin after midnight early Tuesday and last for about 24 hours. About an inch of rain is expected to fall across Long Island. Thunderstorms will be possible along with wind gusts approaching 40 mph.
