LINDENHURST, NY — Trigger has finally been adopted— but by a town, not a family. The pit bull mix, who spent over five years at the Town of Babylon animal shelter, was formally adopted by the town this week.

Because Trigger has medical issues and doesn't do well with other dogs and cats, the shelter caretakers decided his best permanent home was at the shelter, and to be a companion dog for the town and the shelter.

Shelter director Chris Elton told Newsday that "this is amazing for Trigger and this is amazing for us. He has become part of this shelter."
