LFD Elects New Chiefs

Two assistant chiefs move up at the Lindenhurst Fire Department as one new assistant is voted in.

Following this year's elections for the Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire Department, the department received one new assistant chief.

In addition two more assistant chiefs moved up, with one taking over as chief of the department.

Mike McCloud, who was the first assistant fire chief for the LFD, is now the chief of the department. His term runs for two years.

McCloud takes over as Jim Gallagher becomes the ex-chief. Gallagher served as the chief for the last two years.

Mike DeGregorio, who was the second assistant chief, is now the first assistant chief. And Paul Vinciguerra was elected to take over the second assistant position from DeGregorio.

Both also serve for the next two years.

Craig Santoli was elected to the third assistant chief position left open by Vinciguerra. He, too, serves for the next two years.

Their newly elected positions were made official at the most recent Lindenhurst Village Board meeting on April 16.

At that meeting the Board confirmed their election, as well the election of Charles Vozzo to secretary of the LFD and Mark Santoli to treasurer of the department.

The Board also approved the annual chief's contract with the LFD.

Trustees voted to "enter into a service agreement with the chief...for the fiscal year 2013-14 in the amount of $126,060. This agreement shall be for a term of one year, March 1, 2013 through February 28, 2014, and shall be in conformity with terms and conditions established in the previous agreement, except for the change in the monetary amount as stated," the approved resolution read.
