LI McDonald's Restaurants To Offer Free Meals To First Responders

In order to thank first responders working during the coronavirus pandemic, the chain will be giving them free meals at 78 locations.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Over 70 McDonald's restaurants across Long Island will be showing their appreciation for first responders working to keep residents during the coronavirus pandemic. Starting on Wednesday, the restaurants will be offering free Thank You meals to healthcare workers, police officers, firefighters and paramedics until Tuesday, May 5 as a token of appreciation.

While the majority of America is staying home, McDonald’s falls under the essential business category and nearly all of the fast food chain's locations has remained open, offering takeout or delivery options to maintain social distancing guidelines.

Each Thank You meal will be available at no charge via drive thru or carry out at participating McDonald’s restaurants. The meal, available during breakfast, lunch or dinner, will feature a choice of sandwiches, drinks, and a side along with a note of appreciation served in McDonald’s Happy Meal box.

Day or night, these frontline workers can show their work badge to receive one of the below Thank You Meal options:

Breakfast

  • A choice of an Egg McMuffin, Chicken McGriddles or a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit. All options come with any size soft drink, tea or hot coffee and a hash brown.

Lunch and Dinner

  • A choice of a Double Cheeseburger, 6-Piece Chicken McNuggets or a Filet-O-Fish will be offered. All options come with any size soft drink, tea or hot coffee and small fries.

"As local business owners, we know that our communities need us now more than ever, and we’re committed to continuing to serve them," Katie Hunt-Rotolo, a local owner/operator and president of the McDonald’s New York Metro Owner/Operator Association said.

A valid ID required to receive the meal. Limit one per person per day.
