Man Fatally Struck By Train Near Lindenhurst Station

MTA officials said a 26-year-old man was fatally hit by a LIRR train.

LINDENHURST, NY — A person was fatally struck by a train near Lindenhurst station Thursday morning. According to an MTA spokesperson, shortly after 7 a.m., a westbound LIRR train that was not carrying any passengers fatally struck the 26-year-old man.

MTA police are investigating.

The fatal crash resulted in limited service on the Babylon branch during the morning rush hour. According to the LIRR Twitter account, service was suspended at around 7:40 a.m. with service slowly starting to restore.

As of about 9:30 a.m., the crash scene was cleared and LIRR resumed service on both tracks along the Babylon Branch. Riders should still expect about 10- to 15-minute delays, which should subside later on.
