Lindenhurst Beach Closed To Bathing
The local beach is closed to bathing due to the finding of excess bacteria on Thursday, health officials say.
LINDENHURST, NY - Venetian Shore Beach in Lindenhurst is closed to bathing due to the finding of excess bacteria, Suffolk Health officials announced on Thursday.
In addition, Tanner Park Beach in Copiague and Lake Ronkonkoma-Islip Town Beach remain closed due to excess bacteria.
Beaches will reopen when further testing reveals that the bacteria have subsided to acceptable levels.

According to Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
