In true Lindy fashion, all of the stakeholders in the Lindenhurst Community, the community known for coming together in good times and bad, launch the Adopt a Senior Project. Lindenhurst is well known for its festivals and events as well as the strong community partnership with local officials and residents who are always there to make sure no Lindy residents ever feels alone. Springfest, True Colors Run, The Evangel Church of God Easter Egg Hunt, The Rotary Pup Parade, The Moose Lodge Brunch, Steak & Spaghetti Dinners, the Girl and Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Home Town Heroes, The Fireman's Feast and Harvest Festival are just a few events that fill the calendar all year long to celebrate the seasons. Past challenges include Hurricane Irene and Sandy and now, although the threat of Covid 19 has changed the way we live, work and play it won't stop us from celebrating the accomplishments of our High School graduating class of 2020. If there is a word to describe Lindy, it's RESILIENT!
As our officials gather information and directives from our Governor to guide decisions and plans for closing out the 2019-2020 school year, we are happy to announce a Lindenhurst community collaboration has begun. The school district, local residents, businesses, government officials, friends and family are excited to work together to create some lasting memories for our Lindy High School Students.
Melissa Young, an alumnus of Lindenhurst High School Class of 2002 has taken the initiative to help coordinate the generous rally of support and together with the staff of Lindy Cares will manage the community project. Melissa has a long history of Lindy Grads in the family, her grandma - Marjorie Uge- Calsetta was the Salutatorian class of 1948, her mother- LuAnn Calsetta-Martin served as president of the class of 1975. Melissa's brother, Christopher Martin graduated in the class of 2000 and finally Melissa graduated in 2002 followed by her younger sister Joanna Martin-Seimer in 2003.

In true coalition fashion we immediately conducted outreach to the school and community to coordinate and make plans, giving all involved a voice in making this a true community event. We want to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for the outpouring of support to help to show our students that they have all of Lindenhurst behind them during this time of uncertainty and change.
Please note that any monies collected in connection with this project will be sent to Lindenhurst Community Cares Coalition, Inc. and spent in accordance with guidelines set at community meetings and input collected from the public Facebook Forum of "Lindenhurst High School Class of 2020 Adopt a Senior".
