Lindenhurst High School Senior Named News12 Scholar Athlete

LINDENHURST, NY — A Lindenhurst High school senior was recently named a News 12 Scholar Athlete. Veronica Szygalowicz, who is the captain of the track team, received the honor for her academic and athletic accomplishments and leadership skills on and off the track.

An exceptional athlete, Szygalowicz is All-League in the 1500 meter, All-County in cross-country and the undefeated League III champion who qualified for the state and federation championships.

In addition to her role as an athlete, she plays the flute in the symphonic band, serves as the vice president of the National Honor Society, co-president of the school’s DECA club and has volunteered her time at Stony Brook University Hospital.

She has also been named valedictorian of the Class of 2020.

As a winner, Szygalowicz was featured on News 12 LI and received a $1,000 college scholarship from Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
