Lindenhurst Native To Compete In Boxing Championship Tonight
The local resident will be boxing in a televised match airing Friday night.

LINDENHURST, NY - Some Lindenhurst residents might see a familiar face on television Friday night. Local native Alicia Napoleon-Espinosa will be boxing against IBA Super Middleweight champion Elin Cederros, of Sweden in a Title Unification Bout in Atlantic City. However, those who can't make it to Atlantic City can watch Napoleon-Espinosa live on Showtime starting at 9 p.m.
The 33-year-old is currently the WBA World Super Middleweight Boxing Champion and has held the title since 2018. Napoleon-Espinosa, who also goes by her alias The Empress, has been boxing since 2014.
Before her fight, the Long Island resident received praise from local Congressman Pete King. The politician posted a photo alongside the boxer to his Facebook page.

"Besides being a constituent, Alicia is a good friend and a strong advocate for women boxers receiving fairer treatment. She has been to my office a number of times and Rosemary and I have been to dinner with Alicia and her husband, brother and father and they are just great people to be with," he wrote in the Facebook post. "Being a truly outstanding world class boxer and articulate advocate for female boxers, Alicia has the heart and soul of a true champion in every respect.
I am confident Alicia will win tonight and unify the WBA and IBF Super Middleweight Titles. I am proud to be Alicia’s Congressman and her friend."
