Lindenhurst Resident Photo of the Day: Mom & Her Ducklings

Take a peek through the Lindy Lens at the signs of Spring and regrowth South of Montauk Highway at Oak Avenue and Verona Parkway in Lindenhurst.

Update: According to information posted on Lindenhurst Patch's Facebook page here, here and here on Thursday night, May 9, six of the baby ducklings are missing.

Reader Ian Cale said the mother and her 10 ducklings got out of the protective enclosure his neighbor on Lido Parkway built for them on Tuesday, and he was able to round up the mom and four of the ducklings and get them back to the nest today (Thursday).

He said there were spottings from Granada Parkway to Verona, between Oak and Maple Avenues. They most likely got separated crossing a street, he said, and the chicks will stay all together, so he thinks they're somewhere hiding.

Cale's asking "anyone in this area to keep a lookout for little ducklings wondering around. If found, then we can return them to the nest."
