Lindenhurst Resident Wins Scholarship

Lindenhurst resident Samantha Stettnisch, a senior bioscience major at Farmingdale State College, has been awarded a scholarship by Forest Laboratories, Inc.

Stettnisch was honored at the 2016 Long Island Business Hall of Fame Gala sponsored by the Farmingdale College Foundation.

Stettnisch says her passion is research, with emphases on molecular genetics, cell biology and microbiology. She wants to research diseases in a laboratory setting, particularly Alzheimer’s disease.

She is a member of the Tri Beta Biology Honor Society and the Golden Key Honor Society. She is also a laboratory intern at the college. One of her professors, in her recommendation letter for the scholarship, said Stettnisch “is a highly intelligent, hardworking and caring individual. Samantha is truly a model student.”
