Lindenhurst School District Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

The employee has not been in the McKenna building since last Wednesday and will not be allowed to return until released by health officials.

LINDENHURST, NY — The Lindenhurst School District announced on Monday that a member of the district’s Network Operations staff tested positive for COVID-19.

The staff member has not been in the McKenna building since Wednesday, Oct. 14, and will not be allowed to return until the Suffolk Health officials releases them from isolation. Officials say that the person had no contact with any students or faculty.

Health officials are conducting contact tracing and will inform those who have been in close contact with the staff member. Those who share an office space with the employee have been asked to remain home to monitor their health while the investigation is completed. People found to have been in close contact with the staff member will be required to quarantine at home for 14 days from the date of exposure to the infected person.

According to the New York State COVID-19 report card, there have been 10 cases of coronavirus reported in the Lindenhurst school district as of Monday, including four staff members at Albany Avenue Elementary School, one Lindenhurst Middle School employee, four Lindenhurst High School students and one William Rall Elementary School student.
