Lindenhurst Staff Shining As SCOPE Honors Dedication

SCOPE Award recipients received personalized plaques and recognition in a commemorative booklet.

For 20 years, SCOPE Education Services have annually recognized more than 100
members of the various educational communities across Long Island who contributed
greatly to the field of education as well as their school districts.

Lindenhurst Union Free School District’s Assistant Business Administrator and Data
Protection Officer, Michael Van Wart, and special education teacher, Cynthia Morales, were
recently recognized by the SCOPE Education Services as award recipients of the
Administrator Service Award and the Teacher Service Award, respectively.

“The district owes a debt of gratitude to Michael Van Wart for his commitment and
dedication to the students, staff and families of Lindenhurst,” said Superintendent of
Schools Daniel Giordano.

Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services Bret
Kearney praised Ms. Morales. “She is an incredible teacher who positively impacts her
students’ lives each and every day,” he said. “She continues to be an asset to the special
education department, the Daniel Street Elementary School and the Lindenhurst
community.”

Though unable to attend the annual awards dinner due to the pandemic, SCOPE
Award recipients received personalized plaques and recognition in a commemorative
booklet.
