Lindenhurst Village Officials Approve Ban On Pool, Yard Rentals
The ban officially went into effect last month. What do you think?

LINDENHURST, NY -- The proposal to ban pool and yard rentals within the Village of Lindenhurst officially went into effect following a local board meeting last month.
In September, officials presented the proposal which would ban any person who owns a dwelling unit within the village to rent out their pool, hot tub, yard space or sports court to another person.
"In no event may any residential property be rented or used in whole or part for any third party, transient recreational use such as pool or hot tub rentals, party or yard rentals, or sport court rentals," the law reads.

The new law would prevent residents from renting out their pools using rental companies such as Swimply, which raised concerns from village officials. According to the website, Swimply allows users to request a pool at an hourly rate. The company is also planning on expanding to sports court rentals under its new platform, Joyspace.
The company's co-founder said during the hearing that the majority of Swimply users are family and not people looking to throw parties, Newsday reports.
