Long Island Weather: When Will The Rain, Thunder Stop?

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day,

Long Island is under a "flood advisory" as of Friday morning due to multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.

The flood advisory lasts until abut 10:30 a.m., and forecasters are warning of heavy rain, damaging winds and possible flash flooding.

The Weather Channel says thunderstorms and scattered thunderstorms are expected to occur throughout the entire day and into Saturday morning.

"There is a chance of a few severe storms this afternoon, with the main potential threat being damaging winds. These showers and thunderstorms will also pose a threat for flash flooding."

The precipitation will stop early Saturday morning and skies will clear during the afternoon, The Weather Channel says.

South wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind 7 to 10 mph.

Saturday Night

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 70. West wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunny, with a high near 86. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
