Long-Time Lindenhurst Resident Nonie B. Loehr Passes Away

Wake to be held Sunday and Monday at Lindenhurst Funeral Home, with a funeral Mass on Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

Nonie Buckley Mitchell Loehr, of Lindenhurst, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was 82.

She’s survived by six children - Michele Loehr Corcoran, and husband Ed Corcoran; William Loehr; Diane Loehr Cetin, and husband Dan Cetin; Nonie Margaret Loehr Kozak, and husband Dave Kozak; James Loehr, and wife Kathleen Loehr; and David Loehr, and wife Barbara Capella Loehr.

She’s also survived by 10 grandchildren - Erin, Michael, Danny, Krissy, Katie, Taylor Nonie, Jake, Samantha, Erika and Connor - as well as two great grandchildren - Emma and Liam.

In addition, she’s survived by a sister, Kathleen Mitchell Trachtenberg, and husband Barry Trachtenberg, a brother, James Mitchell, and wife Linda Mitchell, two brothers-in-law Robert O’Donnell and Peter Sikinger; and sister-in-law Beatrice Mitchell Lucie and husband Joseph Lucie, as well as several cousins, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and many friends.

She’s predeceased by her husband William A. Loehr, as well as a brother, Charles W. Mitchell, and two sisters, Doryal (Dorothy) Mitchell O’Donnell and Virginia Mitchell Sikinger.

Nonie B. Loehr is being waked at Lindenhurst Funeral Home, 424 South Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst, on Sunday, September 14 and Monday, September 15, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day.

A Catholic funeral Mass takes place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 210 South Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst, on Tuesday, September 16, at 9:45 a.m.

Graveside service follows at Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Avenue (Pinelawn Road), Farmingdale.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, www.heart.org or 800-AHA-USA1 (800-242-8721), and the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or 800-227-2345.
