Longstanding Music Venue Revolution Bar & Music Hall Closes Doors

AMITYVILLE, NY — After two decades, a music venue in Amityville closed its doors permanently this week. Revolution Bar & Music Hall saw changing genres and musical styles in 19 years of live shows but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the establishment had to permanently shutter.

The small concert hall and bar on Merrick Road was first called Molly Bloom's 2 and was host to local bands and bigger acts like the Stray Cats and Taking Back Sunday. But almost six months of live concerts being shut down due to COVID-19 was too much for the venue to stay alive, owner Pauline Lercara Damiani said on Facebook.

"In a world with so much uncertainty, all we can do is be grateful for everything we experienced together, as a community. Thank you to everyone and anyone who ever gave our vision a chance," she wrote on Wednesday.

The entertainment industry has been one of the hardest hit from the pandemic. On Tuesday, live entertainment venues and businesses illuminated their lights, storefronts and even social media accounts in red to call attention to the plight of the live entertainment industry. The Empire State Building was among the sites to be lit up red for the "red alert restart" gesture.
