Multi-Million Dollar Apartment Complex Coming To Lindenhurst
A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the new 260-unit apartment complex near the LIRR station.
LINDENHURST, NY - Officials broke ground earlier this month on a new apartment complex coming to Lindenhurst. The complex, named The Wel, is a 260-unit building set to open sometime in 2021 by the LIRR station on East Hoffman Avenue.
Tritec Real Estate, the East Setauket-based development company working on the project, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this month to celebrate after years of back-and-forth.
The new complex will include studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments as well as 26 dedicated to workforce housing, GreaterBabylon reports.

The over $100 million project has been in the works since 2014.
Last year, members of the Lindenhurst Village Board of Trustees voted unanimously to rezone the 7-acre piece of land from industrial to residential in order to allow the complex to be built, Newsday reports.

Despite some protest from village residents, who claim the apartment will be too large for the area, Tritec's cofounder, Robert Coughlan, says the project will greatly contribute to the local economy.
"Long Island desperately needs a project like The Wel to keep our young, our seniors here on Long Island — and to keep us competitive with the rest of the United States," Coughlan told GreaterBabylon.
