North Amityville Crash: 4-Year-Old Seriously Injured

The crash was reported on Broadway Wednesday night.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A 4-year-old child was seriously injured in a car crash in North Amityville Wednesday night, according to Suffolk police.

A 29-year-old Amityville man was driving southbound on Broadway with his 21-year-old sister and her 4-year-old daughter in a 2005 Toyota Prius, police said. The car was stopped at a red light at the intersection of West Smith Street when it was rear-ended by a 2009 Infiniti being driven by a 37-year-old Brooklyn woman, at 11:45 p.m., police said.

The 4-year-old was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

The 29-year-old man and his sister, along with the driver of the Infiniti, were transported to the same hospital for minor injuries, police said.

The cars were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
