Obituary: Burton Koza, Jr., Of Amityville, Dies At 72

Died: January 2, 2019

Visitation: Thursday, Jan. 17 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 18 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home on 67 Broadway in Amityville.

Service: Saturday, Jan. 19 starting at 10:15 a.m. at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church on Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst.

Obituary: Burton T. Koza, Jr., of Amityville, died suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 2. He was 72.

Koza worked as a devoted teacher for 42 years. He spent 39 of those years teaching at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parochial School in Lindenhurst.

He was also a political activist, a member of the Town of Babylon Zoning Board and a Democratic Leader in the Town of Babylon.

Koza is survived by his wife, Margaret N.; his son, Jason B. and his sister, Diane Egglinger (Steve).

In addition, he is survived by his nieces and nephews; Adrienne Egglinger McCall (Michael), Eric Egglinger (Nicole), Courtney Egglinger Blekicki (Walter), Diane Warner (Scott), Jill Stoll (Artie) and Stacy Muthig (Frankie) and well as his great-nieces and nephews; Kyle McCall, Addison Egglinger, Logan and Luke Warner, Aric and Morgan Stoll, Francis and Desmond Muthig.

He is also survived by brothers-in-law John Smolinsky and Allen Smolinsky (Marilyn).

Cremation will be private.
