Obituary: Leszek Pikura, Longtime LI Resident, Dies At 58
"When talking to family and friends, my dad was always quiet, but he was reliable and everyone loved him," his daughter told Patch.

LINDENHURST, NY — Leszek Pikura, a longtime Lindenhurst resident, died the day before his 58th birthday on April 23 after battling the coronavirus for three weeks. He immigrated to the United States from Poland 30 years ago and lived in Lindenhurst his entire time here. His daughter, Patricia Pikura, says her father worked so hard his entire life to give her, her brother Dominick, and her mom Eva, a great life.
"I have such fond memories with him from my childhood, from going on ski trips to upstate New York, Vermont and New Hampshire, visiting Florida and Disneyworld, and even just going to Venetian Shores growing up," she told Patch. "He was super invested in my brother’s sports since a young age, starting with soccer and then switching to volleyball. He was so proud watching my brother play his freshman season on a D1 team."

According to Patricia, her dad also loved to travel, visiting many countries throughout Europe and "like most Polish people," he loved a good party, she said.

"When talking to family and friends, my dad was always quiet, but he was reliable and everyone loved him," Patricia said. "There are so many people that are shocked that he is gone, you can just feel that his presence is going to be missed dearly. We can’t believe he is gone and are going to miss him so so much."
The community recently came together to raise over $28K through an online fundraiser for the Pikura family. Click here to read more or to donate.
